Pendon Museum

Saturday 15th June 11:00am - 4:00pm

The world famous Pendon Museum in Long Wittenham will be open on both days during the anniversary weekend. The special 175 bus service (Saturday only) will stop on the main road in Long Wittenham outside the Plough Inn, from where it is a pleasant level walk down the lane to the museum.

For those feeling energetic, there is a walk through the fields which will take you to Appleford, where you can visit the family fête being held on the recreation ground. The Pendon Museum will be in attendance with a model building display at which you can learn from the experts and even try your hand.

Sunday 16th June 11:00am - 4:00pm

Not only will you be able to enjoy all that Pendon has to offer, but John Ahern’s famous and pioneering Madder Valley layout will be in operation. This layout dates from the 1930s and is an historical relic of the early days of scenic railway modelling, pioneering the idea of scenic craftsmanship. It showed others what could be done and many model light railway and branch line layouts built in the last fifty years are its descendants. Due to its age it is only operated on limited occasions during the year.
