Trains passing through Culham


2025

February 2025 saw the first passenger carrying train to travel along the new line from Bicester Village to Milton Keynes. This private charter which was top and tailed by West Coast Railways 47746 and 47848 travelled from Paddington to South Marston Euro Terminal, then back round the Foxhall Curve and through Culham to Oxford and Bicester village. From there it travelled along the new line to Milton Keynes via Bletchley returning to London via Watford to finish at Euston. The first public railtour along that line followed in the April when Hastings Diesels ran a tour from Hastings to Milton Keyes and back via Reading and Oxford.

On 6th May in 2025, quite a number of people were at the station and standing on the road bridge ready to watch Flying Scotsman steam by on its way from the N.R.M in York to Didcot Railway Centre. In the event it was over 90 minutes late and the poorly locomotive and its support coach ended up being diesel hauled through Culham having been rescued earlier by 66117.
