GWR postcards by Picture Postcard Co.

The short-lived Picture Postcard Co. Ltd. of 6 Draper's Gardens in London is thought to have only operated between 1898 and early 1901. They produced a series of cards with more than eighty different views for the Great Western Railway. These cards measured 5"x3⅛" and were surrounded by a decorative frame printed in either blue or green. On the left was a half tone image with description below with, on the right, space for a message above which was the name of the nearest station with its distance from other main stations such as Paddington, Bristol or Birmingham. We hold a few examples of these postcards in our collection and they can be found by found by selecting the 'Postcard collection/GWR postcards' option under the 'MEMORABILIA' menu tab. We have been able to gather images of many of these cards from various sources since 2014 and thought it would be useful to make them available for reference purposes.
